Painting of the Ancestral Burial Grounds at Inwangsan Mountain
This painting of an ancestral burial ground, in the style of a true-view landscape, was commissioned by Bak Gyeong-bin and painted by Jo Jung-muk, showing Inwangsan Mountain seen from the west. The fifth panel shows Bak Gyeong-bin visiting the grave and a mound presumed to be his father's tomb. Yet the western foothills of Inwangsan depicted here were a zone where graves were forbidden. The vague treatment of the mound, the key subject, may have been meant to hide a violation of the Sasan Geumpyo, the prohibited zones of the four mountains.
