Who Owned the Bejeweled Dagger?
Gyerim-ro Tomb No. 14 is a stone-mound wooden-cist tomb in which two men were buried, and the bejeweled dagger, a treasure that shows Silla's exchanges with the outside world, belonged to the man on the left. It was once speculated that he came from West or Central Asia, but the tomb contains no other imported objects, and its structure and burial customs follow Silla traditions. So the owner of this precious dagger, made in a distant western land, is now presumed to have been a Silla person of very high status.
